Research Prompt 4

One new study habit that i have acquire through college is the use of note cards. They are a great memorization tool and they are cheap, too.

I believe that differences between reading for fun and reading for learning, are that when one reads for fun, they get into a book and truly enjoy the aspects. But when one is required to read for a class, it sucks the fun out of the book. Every piece of literature, with a few exceptions, that I have had to read for a class, have been the most boring books that i have ever laid my eyes on.

When I get confused about something that I am reading, I read over the text a couple more times to try and understand. If reading over the text again doesn't help, then I usually ask other people's input.

In ten years, I believe that a night out for me will consist of my husband and I going to a nice restaurant for a fulfilling meal and then maybe a movie because I like the traditional, laid back dates, and I would want to spend my nights out with people I care about. :)

Compared with the people I hang out with right now, the people in my future will probably be the exact same.

Most of the people I meet in college are wild and party a lot.

The next time I take a class that requires me to do a lot of work outside of class time, I will reconsider what I am getting myself into!

Research Prompt 3

Each week is getting a little bit tougher in classes, but i manage to stay on top of things and use my time wisely. Although I am getting work done, I still procrastinate a little bit. Until this week I did not know how to work Microsoft Excel, which I still am a little unsure about, but through the SAM program and what Mr. Gentile taught us, I know the basics.

For the Kappa Delta Alumni, I would first like to start by discussing with you all, that as I new Florida State University freshman, I find college a little bit more stressful than high school. I have managed to make high standard grades and I will be starting school as a sophomore in the Spring of 2008. School is a top priority in my life, so i just wanted to share with not only the alumni, but with the rest of my sisterhood that it is possible to incorporate school, Kappa Delta, and even work into one's daily life. I love representing my sorority as a woman of intelligence and of high standards.

During my brief article, the school played the main role because it is the institution where I am educated.

If I wanted to seek out any sort of information I would go about that through the internet. Websites like Google.com and AskJeeves.com are great search engines for basically anything.

Research Prompt 2

The work for this last week resulted in success. I learned how to use Microsoft Excel and I also took a practice test in the SAM program on Power Point. The only thing I will change about my work is that I won't wait until last minute to do it.
I think the most important thing I got out of this class was a better understanding for Microsoft's Power Point. Through the SAM program, I learned more about adding thing to power point then I did the week before.
Well, you need to understand how to work the programs before you actually start a project.
My thoughts on my future still stand the same right now.
I would think that my life mostly mimics my Grandmother's. She went to school and ended up getting a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in teaching, and she became a teacher. Then she met a pretty cool husband and created a pretty nice looking family. So, pretty much, I want to be like her.
I think that my future life least resembles Britney Spear's life. Kidding. Honestly, my whole family is made up of educators, so I can't really answer that question.

Research Prompt 1

I believe that this class will improve my academic success because it will teach me a lot of information about new technology. Not only will it teach me how to work technological programs , but it will also benefit my students when I become a teacher.
This past week I learned a lot of useful information about Power Point that I didn't know. I learned how to make difficult power point assignments and use them to teach others. I believe the most important thing I got out of class was how to create Power Points and more important, how to use them.
In ten years from now, I plan to be a successful high school teacher. I see myself teaching History in another state, such as California or Alabama because I want to teach somewhere with a nice atmosphere and I love both of those states. I also plan to be married with 2 sons and daughter. ha ha
This class will help me create that future by teaching me skills that I may incorporate not only in class, but in a professional aspect as well, such as at school board meetings and more.

Chapter six taught me a lot of information about curriculum integration. I learned that a curriculum is the knowledge, skills, and performance standards that students are expected to acquire in particular grade levels, or through sequences or clusters based on subject matter units of instruction. I also learned that technology integration is the combination of all technology parts, for instance hardware & software, together with subject-related area of curriculum to enhance learning. When planning lessons for one's class, a teacher could use the ASSURE Model, which is a procedural guide for planning and delivering instruction that integrates technologies and media into the teaching process. These are just a few things that I learned from Chapter Six.
This past week, I learned how to make a Wiki. i thought it was really cool how one can access other people sites and change things or even just comment. Some of these sites could be used for educational purposes or even just for fun. I also learned a lot about the 2007 presidential candidates, which was pretty cool.
One thing that I would like to discuss with the class this week is a little story about wikis. When I was in high school I had to do a project about my high school, A.C. Mosley High School. I immediately accessed the Internet and went to work. After looking at my school's website and at articles about my school, I went to wikipedia.com. I started reading and I was so freaked out. According to this website, my high school was built on an old grave yard, and it is haunted by ghosts. At first, I thought it was true (at the time I didn't know how wikis worked). So I added this information into my project and when my teacher returned my project back to me, I saw that I received a c. It was a tough lesson to learn, but I learned that wikis are what other people say, they aren't concrete information.

In chapter 5, I learned a lot about digital media. I learned that digital media allows users to create new forms of interaction, communication, and entertainment in a digital format. Through digital media, students would be able to interact with computer programs and learn through them. For instance, they could use graphics, animation, audio, and video to teach them lessons. Through digital media applications, teachers could deliver lessons that would improve their students' learning. Some example of Digital Media Applications are computer-based training, electronic books, how-to guides, digital magazines/newspapers, virtual reality, and much more.
Some things that I have learned since my last post was how to make a Wiki and a web page. It was a great learning experience, learning how to make these and I will definitely be using the skills that i acquired through this, in the future.
Working in Tallahassee sucks. I realize that I need to work because I need money, but is just so time consuming. I started working here as a transfer from a restaurant that i worked at, at home, but it was just awful. So i moved to a new restaurant and it is actually making me enjoy work. So come see me at RED ELEPHANT, and tip well. :)
