Chapter six taught me a lot of information about curriculum integration. I learned that a curriculum is the knowledge, skills, and performance standards that students are expected to acquire in particular grade levels, or through sequences or clusters based on subject matter units of instruction. I also learned that technology integration is the combination of all technology parts, for instance hardware & software, together with subject-related area of curriculum to enhance learning. When planning lessons for one's class, a teacher could use the ASSURE Model, which is a procedural guide for planning and delivering instruction that integrates technologies and media into the teaching process. These are just a few things that I learned from Chapter Six.
This past week, I learned how to make a Wiki. i thought it was really cool how one can access other people sites and change things or even just comment. Some of these sites could be used for educational purposes or even just for fun. I also learned a lot about the 2007 presidential candidates, which was pretty cool.
One thing that I would like to discuss with the class this week is a little story about wikis. When I was in high school I had to do a project about my high school, A.C. Mosley High School. I immediately accessed the Internet and went to work. After looking at my school's website and at articles about my school, I went to wikipedia.com. I started reading and I was so freaked out. According to this website, my high school was built on an old grave yard, and it is haunted by ghosts. At first, I thought it was true (at the time I didn't know how wikis worked). So I added this information into my project and when my teacher returned my project back to me, I saw that I received a c. It was a tough lesson to learn, but I learned that wikis are what other people say, they aren't concrete information.

In chapter 5, I learned a lot about digital media. I learned that digital media allows users to create new forms of interaction, communication, and entertainment in a digital format. Through digital media, students would be able to interact with computer programs and learn through them. For instance, they could use graphics, animation, audio, and video to teach them lessons. Through digital media applications, teachers could deliver lessons that would improve their students' learning. Some example of Digital Media Applications are computer-based training, electronic books, how-to guides, digital magazines/newspapers, virtual reality, and much more.
Some things that I have learned since my last post was how to make a Wiki and a web page. It was a great learning experience, learning how to make these and I will definitely be using the skills that i acquired through this, in the future.
Working in Tallahassee sucks. I realize that I need to work because I need money, but is just so time consuming. I started working here as a transfer from a restaurant that i worked at, at home, but it was just awful. So i moved to a new restaurant and it is actually making me enjoy work. So come see me at RED ELEPHANT, and tip well. :)

Through this chapter this week, I learned a lot about Internet services and a lot about the web. A lot of this material wasn't new to me, but there a couple things that stood out. For instance, I learned the difference between LAN and Wan, which I have always wondered what they were. WAN covers large areas such as school districts, while LAN covers small areas like a house or a school. There are so many ways to get information and technology through the World Wide Web. There are also vast numbers of search engines through websites and customized on your computer. Things that I already new while reading this chapter was what URLs are and how to use search engines. Another new thing that stood out to me was File Transfer Protocol, which allows you to exchange files with other computers on the Internet. Obviously it is possible to exchange files online but i didn't know how it happened. I will probably keep a lot of this information close to me when I become a teacher because they will help me when I need to know anything about websites.
Since our last class, I learned that google has probably about five million different ways of searching for information. There is Google Scholar, Google Image, Google Reader, Google News, and so on. This helps searching for information so much easier because you can get strait to what you are looking for. For Instance if i wanted to look for a certain article published in 1986, I could find that through Google Scholar. Google is an amazing invention and we should thank who ever made it!
Since coming to Florida State, I decided that i wanted to get really involved really fast because I am one of those people who have to be busy all of the time. So I decided to rush a sorority. At first I was really hesitant towards it because its a lot of money and I wasn't sure how I would get along with a bunch of new random girls. It was a great decision, I am now a part of the Kappa Delta Sorority and I am loving every minute of it. It keeps me very busy, but it's worth it.
